Summary:
Provides strategic and creative leadership of ARFs marketing and communication activities, both internal and external, including promotion of ARF programs, fundraising campaigns, cause-marketing partnerships, and signature events.
Prioritizes innovative promotion of brand awareness and engagement across diverse audiences to support ARFs fundraising and operations.

Principal Duties:
Manage the strategic marketing and communication of ARF programs, fundraising campaigns, cause-marketing partnerships, and signature events.
Create and execute strategic plan to increase target conversion objectives.
Direct traditional and digital marketing campaigns through production, execution, testing and analysis, consistent with organizational needs and timelines.
Research trends and best practices to develop and expand effective marketing in a rapidly changing digital marketplace.
Oversee the implementation of a cohesive branding image across the organization, including ARFs collateral and publications, and recruiting and training volunteers as ARF brand ambassadors in the community.
Supervise media relations and visibility efforts, including expansion of media relationships and occasionally speaking on behalf of the organization.
Guide ARF in spokesperson development and training Manage team members who support marketing initiatives and integrated campaigns.
Hire, train, manage, evaluate, and coach marketing staff who are responsible for daily channel management, including media relations, digital development, direct-response marketing and brand collateral.
Identify team goals, motivate, and monitor progress, while offering constructive coaching, education and encouragement.
Assist Chief Advancement Officer and development team with planning and production of revenue generating products, including positioning, editorial and tone leadership, implementation, and analysis.
Interface with other departments regarding promotional needs and provide strategic and creative guidance support as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Retain knowledge of ARFs programs, events, culture, and objectives.
Maintain the confidentiality of information, when appropriate.

QualificationsEducation:
Four-year college degree with preferred emphasis in marketing, journalism, English, communications, public relations, or a related field.
(Qualifying work experience will be considered as an alternative; on the basis that one-year of experience may be substituted for one year of education.
) Experience, Abilities, and Qualities Required:
Non-profit or animal welfare experience considered a plus, but not required.
Self-motivated and goal-oriented with ability to remain flexible in a changing environment, operate effectively with a creative use of limited resources, and quickly adapt to tight deadlines and multiple projects.
Experience in appropriate delegation of tasks.
Proven leadership skills executed as a motivator and leader.
Experience in mentoring and developing staff into a cohesive team, while holding individuals and teams accountable for results.
Experienced in multi-channel outreach and campaigns.
Strong analytical skills and ability to identify and access department issues and opportunities.
Preferred experience in multi-year strategic planning.
Superior written and verbal skills, including the ability to quickly synthesize information and present information.
Proven excellence in various communication styles, including correspondence, proposals, speeches, and articles that conform to prescribed style and format.
Hands-on experience using style guides; familiarity with publication design and/or previous experience working with graphic designers, copy editors, and print vendors; and PC proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of software such as Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator.
Expert proficiency with online platforms including social media, CMS (WordPress), project management (Trello, Asana), marketing platforms (Engaging Networks, Buffer, or similar), Google products (Analytics, Ads, etc).
Comfortable and skilled in working with a diverse staff, volunteers, and community.
Ability to communicate with the public, volunteers and co-workers in a pleasant, courteous and tactful manner at all times.
Demonstrate maturity, good judgment and professional personal appearance.
Must have a valid California Drivers License and must not have more than two at-fault incidents in a three-year period and no major at-fault violations in the last ten years, and must be insured.
Pre-employment background check screening required.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Willingness to accommodate animals in the work place and work in an environment that includes constant exposure to animals and animal allergens.
Lift and move items and, on occasion, animals weighing up to 40 pounds for short distances.
Push/pull moderately heavy objects up to 25 pounds.
Kneel, bend, stoop, squat, reach above and below shoulder level, grasp and turn objects, stand, and/or walk frequently and repetitively before, during, and after events.
Flex the neck upward and downward; twist the neck and the waist.
Sit for long and short periods while using a computer.
Tetanus and rabies inoculations are required or must be waived.
Attend events as needed ( Hours:
Full-time exempt position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week.
Daily reporting hours and days of the week may vary according to the needs of the department.
Occasional weekend and evening work may be required.
